Why this was one of the best days of my life

I had just thought how fantastic it would be to have my first helicopter flight onto a glacier and do our bit to support the NZ Mt Cook Aoraki tourism industry. Little did I realise what an amazing day we would have. This was largely because the Alpine Guide Chris Macky took us on a 2 hour adventure that involved hiking over the glacier, learning about its geography, its history and understanding its future. Chris started us with a crampon lesson that enabled us to grow in confidence to traverse the glacier, and observe its features and life cycle. This did include climbing into some incredible ice caves and taking some great photos for sure. But I can't emphasise enough how the experience was enriched by this knowledgeable guide who really knew this glacier and how to share that with us. It expanded my mind and my appreciation for people who really know their craft. On the flight back i was speechless with the beauty of this region. I highly recommend.

Unbelivable

I do not regret my money. My daughter and i will remember our all life this moment. Glacier and the flight. And it is a very serious place with the security. Thank's.

Such a shame. Could have been fantastic

So check in was fun. The staff were super chill good people.. We boarded the Chopper. Again the staff and pilot were real nice folk. Then we landed on the Glacier and the Helicopter flew away. Oh dear. Our guide who looked like he had just turned 25 had a real chip on his shoulder. He acted like he did not want to be there. The group was about 12 people. Elderly folk. Overweight folk. As we did not have ski poles to walk, i think this was the issue. We just did not have enough time as no one could walk on the glacier with there snow spike shoes.. So it was a real issue. We were not really allowed to take photo's as the guide was hostile, as every thing seemed by the miniute for Helicopter pick up. Very annoyed with myself. As i did read reviews and some other customers wrote what my experience was like. Guide just seemed like he wanted to be some where else. I intend to go back to Glacier end of the year, and fly with a different Company. As i won't let this one off bad experience put me of..

Not with first attempt

Unfortunately can't rate the activity, because it was canceled. Then rebooked 2 days forward and then again canceled of bad weather. Really hope to come back and reach the Tasman Glacier and write how good was this adventure.
