We rented the equipment for half a day. The equipment and staff are great!
Picking up the bike was good. A friendly young man helped me choose a helmet and matched me to the correctly sized bike dropping was terrible. We waited outside while the owner i presume had a conversation with his friends totally ignoring us.
Kia ora Valdene, thank you for your feedback, our apologies for the bad experience you had upon returning your bikes. All throughout the year we have multiple businesses operating from our premises (7+ businesses with over 40 staff, 5 of whom work at Bike Lounge) including a ski workshop, administration offices, and others who are not employed at Bike Lounge so they are not always able to receive returned rentals. If you can email us with any more information about your return to [email protected] that would be greatly appreciated. This will help me pass this feedback onto the winter crew who are often working or meeting for conversations during our busiest afternoon returns so we can ensure we communicate effectively across all businesses working from our space. Cheers Stuart @ Bike Lounge
Lovely bikes and overall we had a really enjoyable half-day ride. The only downside was the way the optional insurance was presented. The salesperson strongly pushed us to take it out in case the bikes broke down, and also told us we needed to keep the bikes on level 1 or 2 so we didn’t “tire them out” and end up having to carry them back ourselves. In reality, we completed a 20 km ride and only used 1 of the 4 battery bars, so the advice felt unnecessarily cautious and somewhat sales-driven rather than genuinely informative. I don’t want this to take away from what was otherwise a great experience, but I do think the business would benefit from some staff training around how insurance is explained and sold. Customers should be given clear, factual information about what is covered, what the real risks are, and whether insurance is genuinely necessary, rather than feeling pressured into paying extra. The bikes themselves were excellent, and I’d still recommend the experience. I just think a more transparent and customer-focused approach to insurance would make the whole process feel much better.
