Thank you for the wonderful review! We are glad you had a great time with your grandson!
Really impressed. Butterfly Creek exceeded expectations and we had a fantastic day out with three kids aged 7, 5 and 2yo. They loved the train ride and dinosaurs. The farm area was really clean and tidy and well loved. My only suggestion is please put outdoor hand-wash basins outside the petting area, rather than just sanitiser. Looking forward to visiting again soon.
Thank you for the 5-stars Annie, we are so glad you all had a wonderful visit!
Our trip was made easy with butterfly creek being pre booked and pre paid.
Thank you for the 5-stars! We are glad you had a smooth experience
Really overpriced
Thank you for your review. Our ticket prices are on-par with other attractions and good value for the variety of exhibits. We are not government-funded (like the zoo) and rely on ticket sales to operate the park. We also are continually working on upgrades, improvements and adding new exhibits to the park. Thanks for coming to visit.
Firstly there was a lot of work going on in the park meaning some animals had been put away or not visible (otters and meercats) there wasn't many butterfly's in the butterfly area like times before. The lady in the farm petting area didn't seem to know what she was doing or care. There were several bags of food in the pens with the animals eating the packets and when I told the lady she just laughed. Then to top off the experience at the end of the day and closing time, after spending more money in the gift shop I asked to use the baby changing and the lady said all the lights are off now. Being a family friendly environment this didn't seem very friendly or helpful and I had to change my 4week old baby outside in the cold wind. It appeared the girl was more worried about closing up for the day than helping a family with young children. Safe to say I won't be rushing back here anytime soon. Not worth the money or the unhospitable experience.
Thank you for your review, we are disappointed to hear of your less than stellar experience. Easy one first - We always have approx. 700 butterflies (we know this as we have a standard, programmed order). Butterfly activity does vary as they have rest periods and their flight activity is affected by light levels and humidity. This is one of the reasons we offer all day entry so you can return throughout the day to observe the flight. We have just carried out a major overhaul of the otter exhibit. We try to do major works on Mondays and Tuesdays when we are closed however, we sometimes need to carry out work on days we are open - Even then we don’t have the exhibit shut all day and we ensure the animals are out for at least part of the day. We are not aware of any days when both meerkats and otters have been off exhibit at the same time. Our meerkat exhibit is large with only a young breeding pair of meerkats currently (and two sleepy porcupine), so it can sometimes take a bit of looking to see the meerkats. We are perplexed regarding the farm staff. We have great full-time keepers in the farm so we can only assume it may have been a work experience person covering whilst a keeper was on break. We do have small paper bags of appropriate animal food which our visitors can purchase to feed some of the farm animals, or which staff sometimes place in the pens for the animals to play with/open. We also use cardboard, toilet rolls and cardboard boxes for the same purposes, this is not harmful to the animals and is great enrichment. We are annoyed to hear of the baby change interchange, as even though we were closed/closing and the dedicated baby change room was unavailable, our staff could have offered you a suitable alternative. We apologise for this and will have a chat with our staff about their customer responsibilities. If you would like to contact us directly on [email protected] we would love the opportunity to put this right for you.
