Perfectly designed for beginners, fun and interactive sessions provide the ideal introduction to surfing alongside fellow enthusiasts. With a lesson ratio of 1 instructor to every 6 surfers, which is lower than the standards recommended by Surfing New Zealand for more personalised attention to build confidence and skills in the water.
Each 2-hour experience includes a theory session, which will cover some information about Piha Beach, ocean safety such a rips, and surfing technique such as paddling and pop-up. Followed by hands-on water coaching where you'll have some serious fun! Let's get you up and standing on your board!
The team at Piha Surf Academy are all experienced instructors, who are extremely passionate about surf. All equipment is provided for, ensuring you're fully prepared to get amongst the fun.
This is a perfect introduction to surfing for all beginner levels and are suitable for ages 12 and up.
Located just 40 minutes from downtown Auckland, Piha Beach is one of New Zealand’s most coveted surf beaches and not only has some of the best surf in the country, but is also the safest beach on Auckland’s west coast!
May we add that Piha is one of New Zealand's most beautiful (black sand) beaches!
